Eurotrip: Prague
Before even leaving for this Europe trip, a few friends of mine told me I would love Prague. They claimed it was very much my style – quirky, artsy, very bohemian. So as the bus pulled into Prague, I was already super excited.
When we first arrived in the city, we got off the bus and took a little stroll to see Prague Castle – which was very neat – and then turned around to see these beautiful views of the entire town, which was breathtaking.

Once we’d all taken in the beauty that was Prague, we dropped our bags at the hostel and got ready for our night on the town. For that night, it meant a Czech dinner with dancers and performers.
The dinner was absolutely fantastic, and we got to be entertained all night by musicians, dancers, and other performers who pulled Contiki pals from the group to participate in games. It was a lot of fun, but a few of us who were looking forward to an early night left after dessert and headed back to the hostel to go to sleep.
Dinner and a show
On our way back to the hostel that night, the group of us discovered that we all wanted to see the same things in Prague. So we met early the next morning and headed out for a day on the town together!
Our first stop was the John Lennon wall. The Beatles and street art are two of my favourite things, so of course this was a necessary stop.
It was so beautiful and quite moving to see that so many people had contributed to the art piece with their own messages inspiring hope and togetherness. It was a great way to start the day.

Walking towards the city centre, we had to take a peek at the Municipal Library of Prague to see the infinite book tower. Very cool and totally worth stopping in to see!
Once we made it to the main square, we stopped in a lot of souvenir shops and just generally enjoyed wandering around until the Museum of Illusions was open so we could check that out.

The Museum of Illusions is a museum of pictures and sculptures that revolve around optical illusions – often including ways to have the audience participate in the image.
It was obviously not a high art museum, but it was a lot of fun and resulted in a ton of hilarious photos!

The museum was across from the beautiful Astronomical Clock in the old square, so we were able to get an actually gorgeous view. The crowds that formed around the clock from street level were constantly growing as the day went on, so this view was pretty serendipitous.
By the time we were back outside, it had started to snow and my tour-mate from Japan had never seen snow before! It was so wholesome to watch this person get so excited about something I take for granted every year.

After a fairly busy morning, we were all ready for lunch. We’d be talking about ramen a few times on this trip, so the entire group was craving ramen. So we did some Googling and were relieved to discover Kitchen ramen bar nearby.
The entire menu looked delicious, but I ordered a kimchi ramen burger where the bun was actually just crispy ramen noodles. I think about this burger once a week since being home, wishing I could recreate it somehow.
Finally full and satisfied, our group continued to wander the city a bit more, saw the Dancing House and then headed to a waffle place called Waf-Waf for dessert. Crepes and hot chocolate were the perfect way to cap off a delicious and beautiful day.

It was only a short streetcar ride back to the hostel. Maybe it was because we were coming to the end of this month-long trip or maybe I was going into a food coma, but by the time we got back to the hostel I fell into bed and had a nap before dinner.
That night we had dinner at the hostel, so I kept my pajamas on and then ended up going straight back to bed – get some good rest for our next stop!
It was so much fun spending the day with this group, in such a gorgeous city. It was one of my favourite stops on the trip!
Next stop, Berlin!
