Delicious Eats: New York City
When we got to New York, the experience I was most excited for was to eat our way through the city.
All I really wanted to eat on our New York trip was a delicious slice of pizza (which we did – a different pizza place each day). Thankfully we were with a friend who had some other ideas.
Nom Wah Tea Parlour

The group of us travelled to Chinatown and visited Nom Wah Tea Parlour – the oldest dim sum restaurant in the city – one morning, which was delicious. Love me some dumpings! It was also a great excuse to wander Chinatown and see all the neat shops in that neighbourhood.
Stax Ice Cream sandwich

Chinatown also introduced me and Brandon to our new favouite ice cream place: Stax Ice Cream. Stax has such creative cakes and cones and cups, but we went straight for the ice cream sandwiches made with glazed donuts.
I had Ube (purple yam) ice cream topped with sprinkles and Nutella drizzle – I did not hold back on the sugar – and yet we were all surprised at how not overly sweet the desserts were. After eating one, we were all expecting to need a huge glass of water, but we actually found that we could have eaten another one. It was so good – I’d definitely go back to Stax next time I end up in NYC!
Serendipity
The one other place I wanted to go was Serendipity, purely because of the film with the same title starring John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale. They have their first date at Serendipity and share a famous giant frozen hot chocolate. So literally the first place we went after dropping our things at the hotel was to Serendipity for frozen hot chocolate. Loved the drink! Glad I got to tick this off my bucket list.
Grabbing a slice at Rubirosa
Rubirosa Ristorante
We visited quite a few pizza places, but we had to try one in Little Italy. So we got reservations at Rubirosa after a long morning of walking and could not wait to eat.
Brandon and I split a Rubirosa Supreme (tomato, mozzarella, pepperoni, meatballs, and roasted garlic). It was incredible, but we couldn’t finish the whole thing between us. Our eyes must have been bigger than our stomachs, but it was still the best thing to sit and eat after a lot of walking around.
Also side note, I can never eat pizza in Toronto the same way anymore because I love the thin crust New York-style so much.
More pizza at Don Antonio
Don Antonio Restaurant
Brandon and I had tickets to a show at the New World Stages and were looking for a good place to grab dinner before the show, which is how we ended up going in to Don Antonio for more pizza.
I have to say, this was the last pizza of the trip, and it was no doubt my favourite. I got a personal pizza with prosciutto and mushrooms, and honestly didn’t even want to finish the whole thing because then it would be gone. So we sat and ate our personal pizzas really, really slowly, savouring every single bite until we had to leave to go to our show.
The food in New York was incredible. I loved being able to eat whatever we were in the mood for and try new foods, or the same foods at new restaurants. I can’t wait to go back to New York (because we’ll for sure go back), and continue to eat our way through the city!
